Britni Patterson is the award-winning author of the Justice and Mercy and Rosa Parks mysteries.
Britni Patterson was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas, a small border-town in the literal armpit of Texas. A reading prodigy, she was reading on her own by age 3, and won the March of Dimes Reading competition at age 5, by reading 665 books in the month of March. She never stopped reading, but her favorites were always mysteries, starting with Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew, and moving on to Miss Marple, Lord Peter Wimsey, and Nero Wolfe.
She attended the University of Alabama and North Carolina State University for a double major in Chemical Engineering and Piano performance before realizing that while she enjoyed the math and chemistry, she hated the actual engineering part.
After being RIF’d from her job, she decided to try writing the kind of books she loved the most, and Justice and Mercy, twin sisters and co-owners of the Givens Detective Agency, were born.
Thanks to a very supportive (and long-suffering) husband, Britni launched her writing career, and is currently working on the third book in the Justice & Mercy series. She’s also written several short stories, one of which was a 2015 Derringer finalist for Best Short Story, and another will be included in the Bouchercon 2015 Anthology, Murder Under the Oaks.
She currently lives happily in North Carolina, with her husband, two children, two cats, one long-haired chihuahua, and a betta fish.
